It is hard to imagine that 2020 is here! I’m not sure when or where 2019 slipped away.

Every year many make “New Year’s Resolutions,” some kept but most just forgotten.

As the end of the year was grazing closer, I kept trying to decide what our theme for 2020 could be.  What would God want to be our focal point of what He is calling us to do?

On the Sunday before Christmas, we were visiting Cuyahoga Community Church in Ohio. I was expecting a typical Christmas sermon, which would have been fine by me. However, Pastor Chad Allen surprises me by preaching from Matthew 25:34-40. As I sat there and listened, God clearly told me our theme for the year, “The Least of These.”

This passage is about believers caring for “The Least of These!” It talks to us about: feeding those who are struggling to find food,  helping provide water for those that have little clean water to drink, caring for those that have no one to care for them, providing clothing for those who have little to wear, visiting folks that are sick (either at home or in the hospital) and going into correctional facilities to show them we care!

All of this is done in obedience to Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all of Jude’s and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

God doesn’t call us to figure out every detail or to muster up enough strength to do it on our own. He simply calls us to be obedient to anything He asks us to do or go anyplace He asks us to go, and trust He will give us the strength to do it.
