“September is a month of fresh starts and new beginnings, a time to set and pursue fresh goals.”

I’ve always loved September. It is special to see the myriad of colors that come with the changing of the leaves.

We just wrapped up a short softball mission trip in the LaGrange area of Kentucky. A group of Sports Reach softball men prepared for a weekend at two different correctional facilities, but we ended up playing at Luther Luckett for both days. The players were from Tennessee, so that was a change for me. Little did I know that the Lord had a new idea.

We had two full days of playing and talking with inmates. During the doubleheader days, the guys shared with a little over 250 inmates and saw 16 indicating a commitment to follow Jesus.  Though things were not like we normally planned, it helped us see a new direction the Lord has for us. We are now trying to have a new event on October 26-27.

Here’s our proposed schedule: On Saturday, Sports Reach will play the varsity team and the rest of the 6-8 games with the remaining guys. Later in the evening, the inmates are invited to a concert by a group from Campbellsville University.  The gym will hold up to 500 men.  We will have a host sharing a testimonial and the Gospel. Then on Sunday, we will mix up Sports Reach and the inmates. This is really a new event and we are asking for prayer.  Just trying something new to reach others for Christ.

Weather will change, and games can change, but the question is, are you impacting others to have a true change in their lives to Jesus?

BOTTOM LINE: “I want to change my circumstances. God wants to change me.” Rick Warren

God’s Glory!
