At the end of July and beginning of August I headed to two countries in Central Asia to do basketball camp. The first one was in a country I had never been to and the contacts I was working with had never done a basketball camp before. We had a lot of help for the camp from other locals that knew basketball and from some Americans coming from Illinois and Iowa. We did 3 days of two three hour camps and then a final day of 2 competition sessions. The camp was well attended by about 50 players, the first session ages 12-17 and the second 18 and up, male and female at both. There were some very talented boys and girls with a few playing on national 5 on5 and 3×3 teams and one currently playing at San Diego St. We also got to do a coaches talk with some local coaches of different sports.

The second camp was held in a country I have been to before and the third time Sports Reach has gone there. We had 3 days of 1 session camps for 3 hours and helped out with some practices of our contact in the evening. At this camp three Moldovans came to help with translation and helped to lead the camp which was great as I had worked with them the year before. This trip was about growing relationships and giving the Moldovans and my contact more chances to talk and work on plans for the future.

Due to where we were I wasn’t able to share the way I usually do but we still could share about values and have one on one conversations. God is moving in both of these areas and we can continue to pray for them.
