Sports Reach is excited to be able to sponsor the Team USA Men’s Basketball Team for the 2024 FiSU America Games.
The FISU America Games are a multi-sport event sanctioned by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). Alternating with the Summer and Winter World University Games, which invite all the countries of the world for the biennial events, the FISU America Games are a regional multi-sport event similar to the Pan-American Games for FISU member-countries of North America (including those in Central America) and South America held in even-numbered years.
The 2024 FISU America Games will be the third edition of the FISU America games, held in Cali, Columbia from November 5-14, 2024. The Games will have USA Team representation in up to 13 sports against 20-25 participating countries. Some of the other sports will be: Beach Volleyball, Volleyball, Chess, Futsal, Judo, Karate, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Track and Field, and Weightlifting.
The Tour Team will have a staff of 5 and a team of 10-12 players. Kelly Combs (Sports Reach) will be the Head Coach and GM. Carl Lanham (Nations of Coaches) will be an Assistant Coach, Life Coach and Discipler. Zach Arington (Sports Reach) will serve as an Team Leader and Assistant Coach. Paul Swartz (Hoosier Shooting Academy) will serve as Assistant Coach and Director of Player Development. Danny Barracca (Asbury University) will serve as Team Photo and Videographer and will help with Social Media.
The coaching staff have been working hard recruiting players from all over the country. It has been hard to find players that fit the criteria and are available at this time. We hope to be able to release a roster very soon.
The team will report to Waco, Texas on November 2 for a 4 day Training Camp. The Training Camp will begin on sunday November 3. The team will practice two times a day and have Team Times 2 times a day during camp. The practices will allow the players to get to know each other on the court and learn some basic offensive and defensive concepts from the coaches. The Team Times will be led by Coach Carl and will focus on daily devotions and mission training. The hope is for each person to learn more about their own faith, to grow in their faith and to be able to share their faith with others.
We will have great opportunities to meet new people and share the Gospel with athletes from different sports and different countries at these games. Please be praying for Open Hearts and Fruitful Conversations.
The cost for each participant for this trip will be $3,000 per person. We are trying to raise as much as we can to help these young men be able to go.
