I love the arrival of October. The gradual, colorful symphony that is played as the leaves change lets everyone know October is here. In the same way that fall arrives, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.

October is a month filled with beginnings and endings. Major League Baseball’s regular season is over. However, the playoffs and World Series take over. Our Conference Softball team is wrapping up our fifth season and is sitting as the number 8th in the country. This next week, we will be in Viera, Florida, for the AA and Major Championships. One of my favorite things is that the college basketball magazines will also be coming out. Seeing those magazines is the official signal that “my favorite” sport, college basketball, is upon us. In addition, Pro and college football are now in their groove, and professional basketball and hockey are getting geared up for their openers.

All of these events bring a lot of fun and excitement to millions of people. But just remember, it’s all stuff. Wins and losses come and go. As enjoyable as they are to have a place in our lives, we must be reminded of what place. No matter how excited we get when we win that forever-desired championship, it pales in comparison to rejoicing when one person comes to know Christ. Luke 15:10 says, “In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” This truth is a reminder to all of us and especially to me: use the things you love the most to bring glory and honor to Jesus.

God’s Glory,

Robby
