Sports Reach Basketball Announces Men’s and Women’s Rosters for USA 3×3 Teams for 2025 FISU World University Games
May 20, 2025 – Sports Reach is excited to announce the Team USA rosters for both the men and women’s teams that will compete in the 3×3 tournament at the 2025 World University Games which will be played in Dusseldorf, Germany in July. Both teams will report to Cincinnati, Ohio, on July 12 for a training camp before they travel to Germany on July 15. The teams will participate in the Opening Ceremonies on July 16 before 3×3 games begin on July 17. Both teams will play in “pool play” before the top teams from each pool will advance into the tournament. Like the Olympics, FIBA rules will apply.
The men’s team will consist of 4 Ivy League collegiate competitors. We are blessed to have 4 of the best returning players in the conference.
Avery Brown – Columbia University
6’4, Senior, Guard
Avery started all 27 games and averaged 27.2 minutes per game. He averaged 11.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1 steal per game.
Ethan Roberts – University of Pennsylvania
6’5, Senior, Guard
Ethan started all 25 games in which he played, missing two due to illness or injury. He led Penn in scoring, averaging 16.8 points, and in 3 pointers made (59). He also averaged 5.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
Chandler Pigge’ – Harvard University
6’5, Senior, Forward
Chandler started in all 27 games and was the only player to do so for Harvard University, averaging over 33 minutes per game. He averaged 14.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.7 steals per game.
Nick Townsend – Yale University
6’7, Senior, Forward
Nick started all 30 games for Yale. He averaged 15.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. He scored in double figures in 27 games and led the Ivy League with 7 double doubles.
The women’s team will feature players from four different universities. Great young women on and off the court, they are a very versatile and athletic group.
Jaclyn Grisdale – Quinnipiac University
5’9, Senior, Guard
Jaclyn started all 33 games this season. She averaged 10.8 points and 3.6 rebounds while shooting over 40% from behind the 3-point line.
Cece Collins – Columbia University
6’0, Senior, Guard
Cece started all 30 games for Columbia. She averaged 13.7 points and 5.5 rebounds while dishing out 4.6 assists per game. She also shot over 35 % from the 3-point line.
Lee Volker – Marquette University
6’1, Senior, Guard
Lee started all 32 games for Marquette this season. She averaged 12.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. She shot over 41% from behind the 3-point line.
Talya Brugler – St. Joseph’s University
6’1, Senior, Forward
Talya started all 28 games she played for St. Joseph’s this season. She averaged 13.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. She also shot 35% from behind the 3-point line.
In February, 2025 – Sports Reach announced the men’s and women’s 3×3 coaches and tour staff for the 2025 FISU World University Games. Kelly Combs will serve as the Tour Director and head coach for the men’s team. He will be assisted by Kyle Combs. Owens Crawford will also serve as an assistant and statistical analyst. Zach Arington will serve as the Team Leader and Administrator. Maria Napolitano will serve as the women’s team head coach and Kali Kells will serve as the assistant coach. Hannah Edwards will serve as the Team Sports Information Director and will be responsible for Photography and Videos. Jody Combs will serve as Team Staff and Manager.
Tour Director and men’s head coach Kelly Combs has 35 years of coaching experience with 18 years at the collegiate level and 19 years of international experience. In November 2024, he led the USA Men’s Basketball team to a gold medal at the FISU America Games in Colombia. This will be his first time coaching in Germany and leading a 3v3 team.
Maria Napolitano will serve as the women’s head coach. Maria was a four year player at Quinnipiac University (Division I – NEC and MAAC). She was named co-captain her senior year and was part of two NCAA Tournament teams (2013 and 2015). Her freshman year, Quinnipiac finished with a record of 30-3, going undefeated in conference play and winning the NEC Championship. Her junior year, the team again had another undefeated conference run and won the MAAC Championship. She was also named MAAC Sixth Player of the Year. Quinnipiac won 3 conference regular season titles during her tenure (2013, 2015, and 2016). During her senior year, Maria was named All-MAAC Second Team and Tournament Team (2016).
After her time at Quinnipiac, Maria had the opportunity to play in Spain for two years. In her first season, Maria played for Ausarta Barakaldo, Bilbao, where she won the division tournament to advance to the second division national league in Spain. Her second year, Maria played for Tirso Igualatorio in Santander.
After Maria finished playing, she began her coaching career. Maria coached at the high school level and on the AAU circuit from 2020 to 2024. She was the assistant varsity coach at Indian Hill High School in Cincinnati, OH. In 2021, 2022, and 2024, Indiana Hill High School was champion of the Cincinnati Hills League. Maria also played an integral role for the Sports City Angels girl’s travel basketball program. The program is a part of the Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) and has 7 teams that each compete at the highest level. Maria was the head coach for the 15U team for 2 years and was Director of Operations for 4 years. While coaching, Maria went on several mission trips in the Caribbean (Bahamas and Jamaica). These trips included basketball skill training and development while spreading the Gospel and God’s message to young players. Maria had the opportunity to work with both boys and girls during these trips, and looks forward to spending time with the 3v3 team in Germany.
Sports Reach Basketball selected to represent USA for 2025 FISU World University Games
February 20, 2025 — UniUSA has announced that Sports Reach Basketball will represent the USA in men’s and women’s 3v3 basketball at the 2025 Summer FISU World University Games in Germany, taking place July 16-27. The Games, held every two years, bring together over 8,500 student-athletes from more than 150 nations, making them one of the world’s largest multi-sport events. Basketball games will take place in Rhine-Ruhr, with the event headquarters in Dusseldorf.
About Sports Reach
Founded in 1986, Sports Reach provides university athletes with opportunities for international mission work through sports. The Team USA roster will include four men’s and four women’s athletes from universities across the country. Their tour will run from July 12-26, 2025, beginning with a four-day training camp to prepare for competition, mission work, and cultural exchange. While in Germany, the team will compete against teams from 12 countries and experience other sporting events and international interactions.
Player Selection & Coaching Staff
Sports Reach is currently recruiting college-level players (ages 18-25) who excel in 3v3 basketball and can serve as Christian ambassadors. College coaches are being contacted for recommendations, with the final roster set by May 20, 2025.
