"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age"

- Matthew 28:19-20

Brazil Update #3

Brazil Update #3, Monday, 12:25 am, 8/5/2012

Another long, but productive day. Day begins with Coach Pace and Coach Schuberth with the girl’s team leading a coaches clinic. The number of coaches was down from last year, but had some teams show up and it turned out great. In the meantime, the guy’s team headed to the beach to get a little relaxing the whirlwind arrival.  The girls joined them a little later and the winner of this part of the day was the sun. (some slight redness on many players and at least one coach, ME!)

After all of us headed back to hotel for a little nap before the evening came upon us, the girls headed out to help work with some kids at church that was a ways out.  They played games with the kids and shared as well. In the evening, Anja Shelton and Chloe Elam shared testimonies in the evening service.

As for the guys, we headed over to the gym and had a chance to share with the other team before the game while a girl’s game was going on.  The group was very attentive and we had 3 guys indicate a decision for Christ.  Our guys were doing a great job of taking pictures and mingling with the crowd.

The game was a good one of us. We beat IBFF 114-54. We played hard and worked well together. Guys seem to be coming together nicely. Tyler Stone (SEMO) had a triple double with 25 pints, 14 rebounds, and 10 blocked shot. Aaron White (Iowa) dropped in 34 and grabbed 13 rebounds while Travis Smith (Mercer)  had 24 points and had 12 assists.

The neatest part was when a couple of the players for IBFF stopped us and shared how much they appreciated us coming to play them. They said as much fun as it was, what we shared in the hall way was more meaning for now and for the rest of their lives. Praise the Lord! And yes, we finally got the last bag.

Great job Robbie and coach Shubert. Tyler has texted me every day bragging on his trip and what a blessing it is for him. He told me that everyday he wakes up and feels hes in a dream. He appreciates the opportunity so much an we are all proud of him and yall. All of our teamates are following yall’s every move. I truly appreciate you and Tom for taking care of one of ours. He is having a blast and I hope he is helping the team in a great way. Have fun….

    Most sincerely,
    Dickey Nutt
